The Piffle Dragonflies may have beaten the Star Warriors 9-6 in the 10th inning in this contest, but just seeing that final score hides quite a bit more intrigue than you would expect. Through 10 innings, the teams proved to be an even match in multiple ways. Both teams jumped on early scoring opportunities with fervor: The Star Warriors' Flamberge starting off the bottom of the 1st with a lead-off home run, and Kirby driving in Bonkers with a single after Bonkers's 2-out triple.

The Dragonflies answered back quickly, with a pair of singles driving in a lead-off walk at the start of the 2nd inning, then Motosuwa Hideki launching a 3-run home run to bring the score to 4-2. The Star Warriors would answer back with an inning-starting rally of their own, capping off a pair of singles and a walk with a sacrifice fly and a triple to drive in 3 runs of their own and bringing the game to a 5-4 lead for the Warriors.

That's when the pitchers started to work. The Piffle Dragonflies turned to Sumeragi Subaru for the next 7 innings of work, where Sumeragi would only allow 4 hits while striking out 7 batters. The Star Warriors, meanwhile, decided to make the game a group effort, with Francisca pitching a little over 4 innings and Susie pitching another 2 on top of that, both combining for 3 hits and 5 strikeouts in that span.

The Dragonflies threatened to take the lead at one point in the 7th inning while Francisca was still pitching after loading the bases with 1 out. Susie's relief appearance started there with a strikeout and groundout to end the inning, but it was just a sign of things to come. Later in the 9th, after Susie had walked a batter, she was substituted out for Daroach, who immediately gave up 3 singles to allow the Dragonflies to take a 6-5 lead.

The Warriors entered the bottom of the 9th desperately needing a run, and managed to get a triple early from Magolor in order to force the Dragonflies to switch out an exhausted Sumeragi. Tyuuzaki Umi then came in, walking the next two batters to load the bases before a hard hit groundball by Kirby to first base forced Kurogane try to turn a difficult double play, but only managed to get the out at 2nd base while a run scored to tie the game with 2 outs. A quick strikeout then brought on extra innings.

The Star Warriors turned to Marx for the extra frame, who would walk a batter and almost get a double play, though Shiro Kamui just beat the throw. That missed double play would end up being the window the Dragonflies needed, as the team would score 3 runs on a double and a single with 2 outs in the 10th to take the lead 9-6.

The Star Warriors gave a valiant effort of their own in the 10th, with Tuff leading off the inning with a triple, and Knuckle Joe getting a free base after being hit by a pitch. However, the Dragonflies's trust in Ryuuzaki paid off, as the team was able to turn a quick double play, freezing Tuff on 3rd, before putting the game away with an easy groundout to Shiro Kamui at shortstop.
