The UA Heroes continue their struggle to get any foothold this season, having now lost their third game in a row via shutout. Now a combined 11-for-90 at the plate, and having given up 18 runs across the 3 games so far, neither side of the Heroes seems to be their good side. That isn't to say there wasn't any highlights. An extremely brave decision to intentionally walk the bases loaded in the 6th inning paid off spectacularly, as the pitching change from Shinso Hitoshi to Aizawa Shota resulted in 3 runners left on base and not a single run scored for the Stars in the inning. However, the attempt to do so again in the 7th didn't have nearly as much success, as the sacrifice fly by Alex Picker, and following home run by Robin Carpenter, cleared the bases and jumped the Pelican Stars from a 3-0 lead to their eventual 7-0 victory. Speaking of Robin, she had a spectacular day at the plate, going 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. A pair of doubles added to her home run to produce 10 total bases in the game, an impressive total considering she had only had 1 total base in the two games prior. Credit also has to be given to Shane Cooper, whose normally wild pitching was kept in check against UA as he only gave up 3 hits and struck out 6 in the contest while not giving up a single walk or hit batter. The reliability of Shane was a heavy question to consider for the Stars last season, so a good first outing has set a great first impression for the wild card.
