Tohjo Trainer fans were holding on for dear life as their team's lead dwindled from a 5-0 lead in the 4th inning to a 5-4 victory over the Balamb Guardians by the end of the 9th, as a laser by Chuck was able to get to 2nd base before Zidane Tribal could slide in safely on the stolen base attempt. The ill-advised steal came after the Guardians had worked their way to within one run thanks to Selphie Tilmitt's RBI double in the 8th inning. Cloud Strife started the comeback with a solo home run to start the 5th inning, adding to his already impressive season totals with his 2nd home run of the season and 5th RBI. The Trainers, meanwhile, enjoyed a rocket-fast start in the 3rd and 4th innings, starting off with a pair of sacrifice flies in each inning before Giovanni launched a triple down the left-field line, clearing the bases and, with a follow-up single by Clair to score Giovanni, gave the Trainers just enough runs to keep the lead throughout. A silver lining for the Guardians was the pitching by Aerith Gainsborough, who only allowed 2 baerunners across 4 1/3 innings with 5 strikeouts in her first outing this season.
